SEEKING VOLUNTEERS
South West Brisbane Community Legal Centre, incorporating the Hub Neighbourhood Centre, promotes social justice by providing access to information, assistance, free legal advice and referrals to socially and economically disadvantaged people in the South West Brisbane area.

We appreciate and rely on volunteers in order to meet the needs of our community.

All of the volunteer roles would be based in Inala, either in our office in Inala Plaza or nearby in the Hub Neighbourhood Centre, 76 Corsair Avenue Inala.
We are seeking volunteers to assist us in the following capacities:
 
Volunteer solicitors - Thursday evening
We are seeking volunteer solicitors to give advice on Thursday evenings from 6 pm until 8 pm at our office in Inala Plaza. You will be rostered on every 6-8 weeks or at a frequency that is suitable to your circumstances.
 
Volunteer solicitors – Daytime
We are seeking volunteer solicitors to give legal advice out of our office at Inala at times convenient to your circumstances within our opening hours.
 
Volunteer support workers - Thursday evening
We are seeking volunteers to provide administrative support during our legal advice sessions on Thursday evenings. This position would be suitable for law students. Support volunteers would need to be available from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm.
 
Volunteer receptionist – Daytime, flexible hours
We are seeking volunteers to be trained in receiving calls from members of the public seeking legal assistance, and assessing the person’s legal and non-legal needs, making appointments, conducting conflict checks, referring to other services and providing legal information and resources.
 
Volunteer information, assessment and referral officer – Daytime, flexible hours
We are seeking volunteers to provide more detailed assessments of client needs for both legal and non-legal assistance and provide appropriate referrals within our multi-disciplinary organisation, to other community organisations and to other legal service providers. This position would be suitable for someone who has undertaken or is undertaking studies in social work or counselling or a retired community worker seeking to help vulnerable members of our community. Candidate must be willing to apply for a blue card.

Volunteer English Conversation Tutor 
We are seeking volunteer tutors for weekly English conversation classes at the Hub Neighbourhood Centre on Wednesdays (1:30 – 3:00 p.m.) and Fridays (10:00 – 11:30 a.m.).  Previous teaching experience or formal training is desirable but not required. Candidate must be willing to apply for a blue card.
