First Nations Women’s Legal Services Queensland

First Nations Women’s Legal Services Queensland (FNWLSQ) is currently adapting their service delivery to keep their staff, clients, volunteers and broader communities safe.

All newly scheduled appointments will be conducted by telephone. Court appearances have also been impacted. If you are currently being represented in court by our office, FNWLSQ will be in contact with you if there are any changes regarding upcoming court dates or whether you are required to appear. FNWLSQ provides legal advice, casework including court representation, community legal education and outreach clinics and CLE workshops for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in Townsville and in rural and remote areas of North Queensland.

FNWLSQ assists Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander women or non-indigenous women whose children identify as either Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander (their legal matter must directly relate to the children).

FNWLSQ cannot assist organisations, men or women who do not identify as Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander (exception stated above).

FNWLSQ can provide telephone advice south to Sarina, north to the Torres Strait, west to the Northern Territory border and east to Palm Island. Court representation can only be provided in Townsville, Palm Island and Charters Towers.
