Mackay Regional Community Legal Centre
The Mackay Regional Community Legal Centre Inc. provides free and confidential legal advice, information, referrals and ongoing assistance to financially disadvantaged people in the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac regions. MRCLC also provides presentations on various legal topics to organisations and members of the community throughout these areas.
MRCLC provides a generalist legal service, which includes family law (property and parenting matters), employment, debt, neighbourhood disputes and consumer disputes.
Specialist programs
- Queensland Statewide Tenant Advice and Referral Service (QSTARS) - along with other services, MRCLC provides legal advice and information to tenants and rooming accommodation residents under this program.
- Domestic and Family Violence Duty Lawyer Service (DFVDL) - at the Mackay court house.
- Mental Health Review Tribunal Representation Service upon referral from Legal Aid Queensland.
- Elder Abuse Prevention and Support Service (EAPPS) - for the Mackay region in collaboration with Relationships Australia.
MRCLC carries out community legal education on various topics throughout its service area.
MRCLC does not assist: Lessors, high income earners, or commercial, criminal, personal injury, conveyancing or native title areas of law.
MRCLC does not provide court or QCAT representation.
