2018 National Indigenous Out of the Shadows Mental Health Conference

 

The 2018 National Indigenous Mental Health: Out of the Shadows Conference aims to bring together mental health workers and Aboriginal & Torres Straits Islander Emotional and Social Wellbeing workers from Indigenous and Non-Indigenous organisations throughout Australia and presents unique opportunities for Mental Health workers to meet and discuss issues specifically centred on Indigenous Mental Health 

2018 National Indigenous Women's Wellbeing Conference

The conference is hosted by Indigenous Conference Services (Australia) with a great line up of speakers from around Australia. The aim is to provide a platform for Indigenous women’s wellbeing, bringing together health professionals to exchange knowledge and information and raise awareness on Indigenous women’s issues with this year’s focus being on preventive women’s mental health and wellbeing. This is the 7th National Indigenous Women’s Conference and is quickly becoming one of Australia’s premier Indigenous women’s gathering.

The conference is hosted by Indigenous Conference Services (Australia) with great line up of speakers from around Australia. The aim is to provide a platform for Indigenous Men’s Health, bringing together health professionals to exchange knowledge and information and raise awareness on Indigenous Men’s issues with this year’s focus being on preventive men’s mental health and wellbeing. This is the 7th National Conference and is quickly becoming one of Australia’s Premier Men’s Gathering.

Annual Case Review - Cairns

The Annual Case Review is on again ! Don't miss this popular annual event reviewing cases from 2017 with a focus on local, practical and procedural issues.

Barristers Gerry Mullins and Richard Douglas QC will prepare a comprehensive analysis of legislation and cases handed down all over Australia in the High Court, State Courts of Appeal and in Queensland over the past 12 months.The ALA have organised for local speakers to present this analysis.

Judge for Yourself

Queenslanders can put themselves in the judge’s shoes at free events looking at sentencing being held across the state.

During June and July 2017, the Queensland Sentencing Advisory Council is running community sessions to explore the complexities of sentencing.

Participants will uncover details of a sentencing hearing based on real events and have the chance to have their say on what sentence the offender should get.

6th National Closing the Gap Indigenous Health Conference

The conference will highlight the recent 2016 Close the Gap report as tabled by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in February this year. The conference envisions to embraced the philosophy of Indigenous community controlled and mainstream service providers through promoting an informative forum of research, health education and training of staff for the betterment of Indigenous health.
