The Legal Services Commissioner is an independent statutory officer appointed under the Legal Profession Act 2007 by the Governor in Council.
Commissioner Megan Mahon was appointed as the Legal Services Commissioner for Queensland on 16 October 2019.
Commissioner Mahon has a Bachelor of Laws degree with Honours and on completion of five-year articles, was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1996. In 2011 Commissioner Mahon was appointed a Notary Public, and the following year became a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law.
Having had a distinguished career in private practice for more than 20 years, Commissioner Mahon was the WLAQ 2009 Woman Lawyer of the Year, and the 2017 recipient of the Queensland Law Society President’s Medal.
