Ms Michelle Royes is a Program Manager for Relationships Australia, holding oversight for their Queensland-based family support and domestic and family violence programs. Michelle oversees a range of services that span rural, regional and metropolitan areas in Queensland, that deliver direct intervention to women and children who have experienced violence, behaviour change responses to men who use violence, as well as delivering models who work with the family unit. With a background in child protection and domestic violence, Michelle has always worked within a trauma informed framework, which was solidified in her training and implementation of The Sanctuary Model, in which she is a published author and trainer. Applying a trauma-informed and family-focused lens to domestic and family violence practice has resulted in Michelle bringing innovative trials to Queensland, focusing on how to work with men to change their use of abuse and violence in the home as well as how systemic accountability can improve safety for women and children. Michelle is a WorkUp! Reference Group member, SPEAQ Steering Committee member and works within Caring Dads, Safe and Together and Ken McMasters models.
