Neil Henderson

Neil Henderson is a member of the Australian Services Union (ASU). He has worked as a Union Official for nearly 40 years, including over 20 years in senior positions in the ASU National Office (initially the Municipal Officers Association), the Victorian Services and Authorities Branch and now the Services Union in Queensland.

At the Services Union, he became Acting Assistant Secretary in June 2013 and then Secretary at the end of 2013.

In between the times he has worked for the ASU, Neil spent over 10 years working for the Association of Professional Engineers, Australia, later APESMA in its Victorian and Tasmanian Branches as well as the National Office. He became Director of the Queensland Branch from 2008 to 2011.

Neil has a Bachelor of Business in Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations from the University of Tasmania, a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Deakin University and was admitted to practice in Victoria as a Barrister and Solicitor in 2000.

He was initially accredited as a specialist in Workplace Relations by the Law Institute of Victoria in 2006 and later recognised as an Accredited Specialist by the Queensland Law Society (QLS). Since 2015, he has been a member of the Specialisation Board of the QLS.

Neil has also been a Legal Volunteer with the Darebin Community Legal Centre in Melbourne and the Caxton Legal Centre in Brisbane.
