The Youth Advocacy Centre (YAC) offers free confidential legal and welfare assistance to young people under 17 who live in or around Brisbane, and on a limited basis by telephone to young people outside Brisbane but living in Queensland. Help may also be available to 17 and 18 year olds if their problem is about school or being held in a Brisbane juvenile detention centre.

Service delivery is oriented to the young person and there is no fee. It is hoped that young people feel comfortable to come to YAC and know that they will receive a competent, confidential and comprehensive response that is dictated by their wishes. No contact with families or other agencies is made without the consent of the young person.
As well as advocating in individual cases, YAC also advocates on issues affecting young people generally.
