Vivian was facing termination of her lease because of a failure to pay her rent on time. She suffered from health issues that had caused her to fall behind in her rent payments.
Tenants Queensland requested a rent ledger and reconciled the student’s payments against the ledger. It was discovered that some payments were not credited to Vivian's account and there were unlawful deductions made by the provider. Vivian was found to be in arrears by only $42 as opposed to the $700 alleged by her landlord. The rent arrears were rectified and the notices issued by her landlord were withdrawn.
Vivian was allowed to keep her tenancy.
