The theme for the practice forum will be "Representing to Historial Childhood Sexual Abuse"
Due to the recent media attention with the #metoo movement and the Royal COmmission into Institutional Childhood sexual abuse, it is important that the community sector feels confident and comfortable to respond to disclosures of sexual abuse.
Areas covered throughout the training:
- Responding to disclosures of sexual abuse.
- Common trauma responses and presenting issues, and the impact of this trauma on childhood development.
- Support, healing and recovery.
The purpose of the DVAC Practice Forums is to develop relationships between staff in organisations and departments working with families experiencing Domestic & Family Violence; to streamline and improve services across the group and provide excellent professional development opportunities for everyone invovled. The training will draw not only on presenters but also on the very diverse skills and knowledge base of all attendees.
