Collaborative service delivery and mental health law

Best practice in service delivery in a community legal centre environment requires careful collaboration between lawyers and caseworkers. Addressing the legal needs of people with mental illness, and equipping legal assistance services to engage appropriately with this client group, is an acknowledged priority.

QPILCH have considered the collaborative practices of special mental health legal services to develop accessible and sustainable resources for lawyers and non-legal caseworkers working in partnership to assist people with mental illness. This collaboration project aims to address the civil legal needs of this client group by demonstrating the elements of collaborative service-delivery which best meet the legal needs of this vulnerable client group.
