Conflict of interest

Lawyers have a professional responsibility to ensure that they do not represent a party where they may have a conflict of interest. A conflict of interest is where someone in a position of trust is serving or attempting to serve two or more interests and it would be difficult for that person to fulfil their duties impartially, or balance personal or professional interest with their duty.

In this webinar, Dr Francesca Bartlett (University of Queensland) discusses the rules that apply to Queensland lawyers, based on Australian Solicitors Conduct Rules and common law duties.
