Sex worker rights are human rights: Barriers in accessing justice

Sex work is one of the most heavily regulated workforces in Queensland. The current laws force sex workers to choose between working safely or legally. Police statistics show offences in 2016-17 increased by up to 450%, while sex workers experienced significant barriers to reporting crime. Migrant sex workers are disproportionately impacted, often not fully understanding the offence or even that they are breaking the law.

In this webinar, Elena Jeffreys and Kayla Rose from Respect Inc outline the barriers sex workers face in accessing justice, how Respect Inc is responding, the sex worker lead #DecrimQLD campaign, and the sex worker self-determined solution: decriminalisation.
