Community Legal Centres Queensland Sector Sustainability Coordinator Carly Hanson was named as a runner-up for Innovator of the Year (Individual) at the Australian Law Awards 2020, held on Friday.
Now in its 20th year, the Australian Law Awards, run in partnership with Principal Partner UNSW Law, bestows the industry’s most prestigious accolades recognising excellence across the entire legal industry.
Carly, pictured here at the online event, was nominated for her sector digital strategy project that addressed how Queensland’s Community Legal Centres approach technology change and help bridge the digital divide.
“While we didn’t win, it was humbling to be nominated,” Carly said.
“I want to give my appreciation to all the great CLCs across Queensland who participated in our Digital Strategy project.”
The digital strategy was critical during the COVID-19 lockdown as it supported the sector to pivot to remote service delivery.
“Over the past six months I have been implementing the strategy – providing technical support and advice to Community Legal Centres to help them strengthen their core operations and become digital-ready.” Carly added.
The Australian Law Awards showcase professional development and innovation, celebrating both individuals and firms that are leading the way in the industry.
