Community Legal Centres Queensland Sector Sustainability Coordinator Carly Hanson has been named as a finalist for Innovator of the Year (Individual) in the Australian Law Awards 2020.
Now in its 20th year, the Australian Law Awards, run in partnership with Principal Partner UNSW Law, bestows the industry’s most prestigious accolades recognising excellence across the entire legal industry.
Carly has been nominated for her sector digital strategy project that addressed how Queensland’s Community Legal Centres approach technology change and help bridge the digital divide.
She said she was humbled and proud to be named as a finalist in the awards.
“I am proud this important work has been recognised in the awards,” Carly said.
“The digital strategy created a digital vision and roadmap for the sector moving into the future. We produced a suite of practical and adaptable resources for community legal centres.”
The digital strategy was critical during the COVID-19 lockdown as it supported the sector to pivot to remote service delivery.
“Over the past six months I have been implementing the strategy – providing technical support and advice to Community Legal Centres to help them strengthen their core operations and become digital-ready.” Carly added.
The Australian Law Awards showcase professional development and innovation, celebrating both individuals and firms that are leading the way in the industry.
“It is our pleasure to mark the 20th year anniversary of the Australian Law Awards,” said Lawyers Weekly editor Emma Ryan.
“This annual event represents the premier benchmark for those operating in the business of law, covering vast practice areas, level of experience and contribution to the profession.
“I would like to congratulate all of the finalists for this year’s event.”
The awards take place on 7 August 2020. Find out more about the awards here.
