The Working Women Queensland team recently represented an apprentice worker who has four young children.
Kylie* was not receiving payslips from her employer or being paid on time. When Kylie made enquiries with her employer – she was terminated.
Kylie was relying on her income to support her family and the termination caused significant emotional and financial stress.
Working Women Queensland supported Kylie to make a complaint and represented her at a conciliation in the Fair Work Commission. The matter was resolved on terms which included compensation being paid to the worker and her receiving a letter of recommendation and a statement of service.
Working Women Queensland are proud to contribute to improving women’s economic independence and financial security in the work we do and were pleased to support Kylie.
Working Women Queensland has proudly operated for over 20 years, the last five as part of Basic Rights Queensland. Working Women Queensland is a free, confidential and supportive service to help vulnerable women seeking help with work matters. Freecall: 1800 358 511
